Kodak Pixpro SP360 4k Action Camera Review

Kodak Pixpro SP360 4k Introduction

So this 360 camera is a little bit of a misnomer; the camera does not actually shoot within a full 360 degrees; it is about 215-230 degrees, depending on the specific features, but it is possible to link two together and use stitching to create dynamic panoramic images…

The lens is fully 360, but the camera is not built to capture photos or videos in this way. If you choose to go this route, there is stitching software that is provided by Kodak, too. There are two different versions of this camera, one of which is a 4K version, and the other is more basic.

Kodak Pixpro SP360: A Modern take on a Vintage Kodak product

As a Kodak camera, the design is impeccably stylish, and it looks a lot like a modern take on a vintage Kodak product, cementing the nostalgic image of the brand within something thoroughly current…  Not to mention, the build is quite sturdy.

It’s a fantastic device, even despite the fact that it does not shoot a full 360 degrees. The camera captures full, 1080p HD footage and the photos are caught with a 16 megapixel sensor.

Not only is the device waterproof, but it’s also resistant against cold temperatures, dust, and shocks as large as 2 metres.

Nice Touch: Mobile App with the Kodak Pixpro

Not only is the camera noble in its connectivity to WiFi, but it can also be controlled wirelessly from iOS and Android devices. The Pixpro is also extremely portable, with dimensions of 1.61 x 1.96 x 1.49 inches, and 3.63 ounces / 103 grams.

The time lapse mode is fantastic, which sets it above a lot of the competition.

There is a mobile app, compatible with iOS and Android, which makes it easy to change the settings from your smartphone, and it is also very simple and convenient to upload content to both Facebook and Youtube. There is no built in memory, so you will need to purchase a microSD of whichever size you prefer.

In general, the basic model of this camera is quite affordable, and it represents great value to some photographers, but it is hampered by the fact that you need a second one to shoot a full, 360 image. Due to the 4K version begins to enter the upper echelon of the price range, buying a second unit becomes a very unaffordable plan if you are looking for the full 360 degree shot.

Still, if a fully 360 x 360 VR image is not what you require, Kodak has contributed an awesome creation to the emerging field of photography.
